Messerschmitt M35
Order No. 1353/00
The full-size machine:
The primary purpose of this aircraft, which was built in the late 1920’s and early 1930’s, was as a touring and aerobatic machine. The type became properly famous in 1936 when Willi Stör flew it to win an important international competition in Berlin. The fin bore the old German flag on the right-hand side, and the national emblem of the time on the left-hand side. The aircraft could carry a two-man crew in a tandem arrangement, but the front seat was covered for aerobatic flying. The fuselage was of welded steel tube construction with timber fairing strakes and a plywood turtle deck, printed on both sides with the Olympic rings. The two-part wings were of wooden construction, fabric-covered, and could be folded back along the fuselage for transport or storage. The history of the Messerschmitt M35 is fascinating, and we recommend that anyone interested in the type should study the specialist literature available in bookshops and from model magazine publishers.
The model / kit contents:
Our model of the M35 is drawn up to a scale of around 1 : 4.8, and its capacious GRP fuselage and cowl provide endless scope for a huge variety of power units: two-stroke, four-stroke, radial engine or electric motor. The built-up wing frames are ready-made, and ready for covering; the 22 mm Ø hard aluminium joiner tubes are already fitted. The scale tailplane and fin are also supplied as ready-made balsa frames; the control surfaces are hinged using GRP lugs and spring steel pivot rods. The kit also includes: aluminium bridge-piece for undercarriage mounting, steel wire undercarriage (an optional shock-absorbing undercarriage can be retro-fitted) with linkage components for both versions, two windscreens, all fixings, comprehensive building instructions and drawings plus decal sheet.
