Fauvel AV-361

Order No. 1363/00

The full-size Fauvel AV 36 was developed as a single-seat glider in France in 1951, and immediately gained an enthusiastic following with its outstanding flying characteristics and unprecedented inherent stability. Several distance flights of up to 500 km were achieved. The AV 361 presented here was introduced in 1960 as a more refined successor to the AV 36, differing primarily in its enlarged wingspan and improved airfoil.

Our model is designed to 1 : 4 scale, and its wingspan of more than three metres makes it a real eye-catcher at any model flying site or slope. The Fauvel AV 361 can be built either as a pure sailplane or as an electric-powered glider. The latter can be fitted with an actro 24-3 or 24-4 brushless motor, which gives a fantastic glide performance with the right propeller.

The large wings give the AV 361 totally docile handling, while the large stabilisers ensure excellent inherent stability.

The wings are of all-wood built-up construction, and the ailerons are already cut out. Access to the internal space is through the large, removable canopy.

The capacious fuselage provides plenty of space for an efficient arrangement of the RC system. The electric-powered version can easily accommodate a 5000 mAh LiPo flight battery.

The AV 361 is designed for hand-launching, although an aero-tow coupling can be fitted at the builder?s discretion.

The three-part wing is assembled using plug-in couplings and aluminium joiner tubes; dismantling the 3.2 metre wing reduces it to a length of about 1 metre for transport. The Fauvel AV 361 therefore fits in any car boot.

A decal sheet including scale type registration placards is included in the kit.

Kit contents:

GRP fuselage with bonded-in plywood formers, built-up wings with underside sheeting, servo mounts and aluminium airbrakes installed, large canopy, decal sheet, comprehensive building instructions and plan.
